Order of draw for multiple tube collections
When collecting multiple speciments, blood tubes should be drawn in the following order, mix all tubes by inversion 6-8 times.
- Blood Culture bottles
- Isolator tube
- Blue top (3.2% sodium citrate)
- Red top (no preservatives) and Gold top (SST)
- Royal blue top (no preservatives)
- Green top (sodium heparin)
- Lavender top (EDTA), Pink top (EDTA), and Royal blue top (EDTA)
- Gray top (sodium fluoride)
- Yellow top (ACD) Solution A or B
- TB Gold QuantiFeron: Nil (gray top), TB antigen (red top), and Mitogen (purple top)
