Controlled Substance Requirements
As of January 1, 2025, we will be requiring all customers to order controlled substances via electronic Form e222 on the DEA’s Controlled Substance Ordering System (CSOS). Paper DEA Form 222 will no longer be accepted. We are implementing this change to streamline ordering, reduce the risk of errors and provide faster turnaround times and better service to our customers.
If you are not already using CSOS, please transition as soon as possible to minimize any disruption in processing future orders. Additional detail on how to get set up on CSOS manager can be found here.
1. Apply
Apply for your personal CSOS signing certificate online. CSOS signing certificates are provided by the DEA and serve as a digital identity to verify a user’s information and grant them legal access to CSOS. Please note, average DEA processing times are between 4 and 8 weeks, so please do not delay in submitting your application. If you have questions or need additional support in obtaining your personal CSOS signing certificate, please contact the DEA’s CSOS helpdesk at 1-877-DEA-ECOM (1-877-332-3266)
2. Register
Once you have confirmation from the DEA that your CSOS signing certificate is approved, please use our self-guided document to register your CSOS certificate number and set up the CSOS platform. If you need additional support in setting up your CSOS platform, please schedule time with our CSOS Technical Support team via the following link. Please note: you will need to have your CSOS Certificate number prior to scheduling an appointment.
