The flu “perfect storm”: Why August will matter
Presented by the MMS Clinical Center of Excellence

When schools reopen, this can create the “perfect storm” of environmental, behavioral, and immunity‑related factors that cause a spike in community flu spread. In this webinar, we will discuss predicting circulating strains, differentiating symptoms (including COVID‑19 and RSV), and the unique impact on pediatric populations. Participants will be able to quantify workplace disruption, outline recommended timelines and vaccine options, and describe how flu vaccination mitigates economic and operational costs.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain why the August back‑to‑school period drives early flu transmission
  • Summarize the key clinical considerations for the 2026 flu season
  • Evaluate the economic and operational consequences of flu‑related absenteeism for employers
  • Identify and communicate strategic components of an effective workplace flu vaccination program
