What is the Lymphedema Treatment Act?

The Lymphedema Treatment Act provides for Medicare coverage of lymphedema compression treatment items. Specifically, the bill provides for coverage of (1) standard and custom fitted gradient compression garments that are prescribed by a physician or other specified healthcare professional to treat lymphedema, and (2) other devices determined to be effective in the prevention or treatment of lymphedema.

What supplies are covered under the LTA?

Products and supplies covered (subject to applicable limits) under the LTA include:

Standard and custom fitted gradient compression garments
Gradient compression wraps with adjustable straps
Compression bandaging systems
Accessories, such as zippers in garments, liners worn under garments, wraps with adjustable straps, as well as padding or fillers that are necessary for the effective use of a gradient compression garment or wrap with adjustable straps
