Starting March 31, 2025, we will no longer accept paper 222 Forms for ordering CII controlled substances.

We’re excited to offer you a faster and more efficient way to manage your orders. Bid farewell to traditional paper 222 forms and step into the future with our online ordering solution. By enrolling in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Controlled Substance Ordering System (CSOS) by March 31, you can help ensure your service remains seamless and uninterrupted.

Follow These Steps:

1. Enroll in DEA CSOS

All new controlled substance customers must first obtain a CSOS certificate through the DEA. The enrollment process can be done entirely online through the DEA CSOS application portal. New accounts must sign up and complete a quick online identity verification to access the application portal and request a CSOS certificate. Please note, DEA processing times can take up to eight weeks, so please start soon to avoid interrupted service. 2. Install CSOS Certificate in McKesson SupplyManager

With your CSOS certificate in hand, the final step is to install it in SupplyManager and set up the CSOSManager platform. To do that, you can either use our step-by-step self-guided instructions document or you can schedule time with our CSOS Tech Support team to help assist with the installation.

Temporary Exceptions: We understand the transition may take some time, so temporary exceptions for using paper 222 Forms may be granted during your CSOS setup or during staff changes. These will be strictly limited to temporary disruptions.

What is CSOS? expand_more

DEA’s CSOS (controlled substances ordering system) program allows for secure electronic controlled substances orders without the supporting paper DEA form 222. CSOS requires that each individual purchaser enroll with the DEA to acquire a CSOS digital certificate.

Is there a charge for using CSOS? expand_more

No.

What is a personal CSOS Signing Certificate and how do I acquire one? expand_more

To use CSOS, customers must have an active personal CSOS signing certificate on file. CSOS signing certificates are provided by the DEA and serve as a digital identity to verify a user's information and grant them legal access to CSOS. Applications for personal CSOS signing certificates can be found at https://deaecom.gov. If you have questions or need additional support in obtaining you personal CSOS signing certificate, please contact the DEA's CSOS helpdesk at 1-877-DEA-ECOM (1-877-332-3266)

What happens after I obtain my personal CSOS signing certificate? expand_more

Once you have confirmation from the DEA that your CSOS signing certificate is approved, please use our self-guided document, click on the "Sign up for CSOS" button above to register your CSOS certificate number and set up the CSOS platform. Please note: you will need to have your CSOS certificate number prior to scheduling an appointment.

How do I sign for orders? expand_more

The orders that require a signature will be displayed within McKesson SupplyManager℠ under Notifications > Pending CSOS Approvals, or under Orders > CSOS Orders. Find the order you wish to sign for, and select Sign. Follow the on-screen directions to complete the signing process.

How do I check the status of a CSOS order? expand_more

From the main menu, select Orders, then CSOS Orders.

How do I know if the signing was successful? expand_more

From the main menu, select Orders, then CSOS Orders. The status of your order will be shown on the right. Signature required: Waiting for signature Signature verified: The system has validated your DEA license Ready for receipt: The order has been processed and will be shipped Finalized: Process is complete and the order has been received and recorded Canceled: The order has been canceled Declined: “Decline” was selected in the signing process

What happens if my certificate is expired? expand_more

You will need to contact the DEA at 1-877-332-3266 to receive a new one.

How do I receive my order? expand_more

From the main menu, select Orders, then CSOS Orders. Click on the order you would like to receive. For each invoiced order line, click on the date field and select a received date, enter the quantity received. Click Save. For printing, select your preference from the PDF & Export Options menu and select Copy of Order. This opens a new browser and will allow you to print

How do I save/archive a receipt to my computer? expand_more

On each CSOS order detail page there is a PDF & Export Options menu. Select Copy of Order. This opens your browser’s file save dialog. Click on your browser’s Save button to save a copy to your computer.

How do I set up additional people at my location to sign for CSOS orders? expand_more

All new CSOS users will need to obtain a personal CSOS signing certificate from the DEA. Applications for CSOS signing certificates can be found at https://deaecom.gov. Once new users have confirmation from the DEA that their CSOS signing certificate is approved, they will need to use our self-guided document click on the "Sign up for CSOS" button above to register their CSOS certificate number.
