• Wright Stain is a modified Romanowsky stain commonly used for the cellular elements of blood
• Wright′s stain is a mixture of eosin Y with polychromed (oxidized and partly demethylated) methylene blue and therefore termed polychrome stains
• The hematological stain is intended for differentially staining peripheral blood and bone marrow films
• Wright stain has been used to determine the number of white blood cell types (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils) per microliter of whole blood
