Now that you’ve assessed your patient’s incontinence needs and chosen an appropriate product, it’s time to choose the proper size for the best fit and apply. These basic steps walk you through sizing your patient and applying incontinence briefs.
In order to help provide better comfort and maximum absorbency, selecting the right size for your residents and patients is important. You can determine the right size by using either a measuring tape or the patient’s height and weight.
After the soiled product has been removed and the skin cleaned, assessed and protected, you are ready to apply the new brief to the patient, per facility policy.
Adapt these suggestions based on the product in use, and to meet the specific needs of your patients and facility policies.
