Q. How will the companies be combined, and what are the next steps?
A. MSD is now part of McKesson’s Medical-Surgical Extended Care business under the leadership of Joan Eliasek, President, Extended Care Sales, who reports to Gary Keeler, President, Sales and Marketing.
Our integration-planning team consists of leaders and staff from McKesson Medical-Surgical, MSD and First Choice. They will evaluate and compare our respective capabilities to finalize the integration approach with a focus of bringing you, our customers, a broader array of business solutions.
Q. How long will the integration period last?
A. We expect to complete this integration by the end of 2020. McKesson and MSD have formed an integration-planning team of key functional leaders from both organizations. The team will evaluate and compare each company’s respective capabilities in greater detail and determine the best plan and timelines to integrate the MSD business and offer even greater value to customers. Both McKesson and MSD have an extensive track record of acquisition and integration capabilities from which to draw upon to ensure a careful and thoroughly executed integration plan.
Q. Under what name will the new organization operate? What will happen to other proprietary names under MSD?
A. MSD is now part of McKesson Medical-Surgical. A long-term branding strategy, sensitive to the value of the brands of each organization, will be one of the products of the integration activities.
Q. How will this affect customer service and support levels to McKesson and MSD customers?
A. Providing the highest levels of customer service and support is a focus and competency of both companies and will remain a top priority throughout the integration. You will continue to contact Customer Service as you usually do. More information will be provided as we have updates.
Q. I do business with both companies. Will both sales reps still call on me?
A. You will continue to work with each sales representative or account manager. Our sales management team is working diligently to identify shared accounts and determine the best course of action.
Q. I order from both companies but prefer one or the other for particular products and services. Will I still have access to the same products and services of both companies?
A. You will continue to receive the same high-quality products and services that you have come to expect from each company.
Q. Will MSD and McKesson combine distribution centers?
A. Distribution is a core competency and service of both organizations. A well-planned distribution network integration strategy and timeline will be established to ensure the highest levels of service via the most efficient supply chain.
Q. Will my delivery schedule or delivery method change?
A. On-time delivery is a cornerstone to our customer service. Your schedule and method of delivery will remain the same throughout the integration period.
Q. What will happen to the programs that I use from each company?
A. The benefits you receive as a program participant will continue. Our integration team will look at both the McKesson and MSD customer programs to build programs that bring you the greatest benefit possible.
Q. How will I to place my orders?
A. At this time, you should continue to place your orders as you have in the past.
Q. What will the shared roadmap be for the combined company’s technology platforms?
A. Our long-term strategy will be determined during the integration process. We believe that the combined expertise of the two organizations will provide customers and manufacturers with the next generation of leading customer technology solutions and enhance our distribution technology capabilities.
Q. Will there be a reduction in the number of MSD products that are available to me?
A. As part of the integration, we will thoroughly evaluate and compare our respective products and capabilities. While we will look for where we can provide you even more value, we plan to continue offering you the selection and choices you expect from both companies today.
Q. I only have a contract with one of the companies involved in the transaction. How should I proceed in getting one with the new company?
A. Please contact your sales representative or customer service if you have specific questions. During the integration, we will evaluate and compare our respective portfolios in greater detail and determine the best way combine our strengths to benefit customers.
Q. How will I be updated about the integration?
A. Your account manager will be able to provide you with updates. We will also update our website, mms.mckesson.com/msd, with the latest news and information. You can also sign up there for email updates.
