Contributing to our communities is one way we live our mission of better health. Our community involvement ranges from large events like McKesson Community Days and our #idelivercarefor campaign to smaller efforts sponsored at our local sites.
Giving Comfort to Cancer Patients
Our annual Community Days brings employees together McKesson-wide to create comfort kits for cancer patients undergoing treatment and to raise funds for cancer care.
This October, 14,000 employees from 130 locations across the U.S. and Canada volunteered to create more than 15,000 care packages including a fleece blanket, hand-decorated journals and hand-written notes of encouragement and support. These kits, often delivered by McKesson employees themselves, help remind cancer patients that they are not alone in the fight against cancer.
In addition to these comfort kits, McKesson employees helped raise $160,000 in grants to support cancer care community partners, just by volunteering their time. As part of Community Days, the McKesson Foundation awards grants based on the number of employees volunteering throughout McKesson. This year, grants were awarded to more than 35 local and national cancer community care partners, including:
- Ronald McDonald House
- American Cancer Society
- Nemours Children’s Hospital
- VCU Massey Cancer Center
Community Days is part of Giving Comfort, a McKesson Foundation program dedicated to supporting cancer patients and their families.
