The year of compliance

May 11, 2022 | 3:00 pm EST

In November of 2021, CMS issued updated guidelines for state survey processes with an intentional focus on quality of life and quality care delivery and outlined specific changes to COVID-19 survey activities including heightened oversight in nursing homes. Then, in March of this year, President Biden offered the State of the Union outlining major nursing home reforms.

While the initial focus is on skilled nursing, it’s likely that increased scrutiny is going to quickly carry over into all post-acute care settings. Is your facility or agency ready? Can your current compliance program successfully navigate what promises to be a challenging compliance year? Are you ready for your regulatory close-up?

Learning objectives:

  • Describe November 2021 state survey guidance (CMS) and March 2022 (State of the Union) proposed nursing home reforms
  • Develop a plan of action targeting specific areas to better position your facility for successful surveys
  • Detail how robust compliance practices directly contribute to improved care quality and safety of the care environment
